Last night, something truly magical unfolded in our lavender field.
As the sun dipped behind soft clouds and a gentle cool breeze replaced the week’s intense heat, guests gathered for our U-Pick Lavender & Harp Music Night — an evening filled with soothing music, fragrant blooms, and the kind of connection that only happens when community and nature come together.
Our guest musician, Laura Dishong of Moorestown, brought the evening to life with the delicate beauty of her harp. Laura and I share a special history—we once taught side-by-side as tenured teachers, our classrooms right next door to one another. She was the music teacher, always bringing creativity to the school day, and I was thrilled to have her bring that same presence to our field. In fact, Laura even played the harp at my wedding ceremony, making this performance all the more meaningful.
As guests arrived, they were greeted by the calming scent of blooming lavender and Laura’s music floating through the air. Some came prepared with picnic blankets and even picked up white garlic pizza from Papa Luigi’s in Elmer (which smelled amazing). Laughter and conversation flowed easily, even among those meeting for the first time. There was something about the setting — the music and the lavender made everyone feel at home.
Throughout the evening, guests wandered through the field, cutting fresh Lavandin to take home as fragrant mementos. It was the perfect way to wind down the week and celebrate the season’s bloom.
