From Plant to Oil
What is essential oil?
Lavender essential oil is a concentrated plant extract obtained from the flowers of the lavender plant through steam distillation. It captures the natural aroma and characteristics of the plant in a highly concentrated form.
On this page, you’ll learn what makes lavender essential oil unique, the different types, how we produce it on our farm, and common ways it’s used in everyday life—so you can choose and use it with confidence.

Lavender vs. Lavandin
Lavender (Lavandula angustifolia) has a soft, sweet floral aroma and is commonly used for relaxation and aromatherapy.
Lavandin (Lavandula x intermedia) has a stronger, more herbal scent due to higher camphor content, making it well suited for home fragrance and bath products.
Both essential oils are distilled by us in small batches on our farm allowing customers to choose the aroma and application that best fits their needs.
How is Essential Oil Made?
Essential oil is produced through steam distillation. Steam is gently passed through freshly harvested lavender, capturing the plant’s aromatic compounds as it moves through the still. The vapor then travels into the condenser, where it cools and returns to a liquid state. During this process, the essential oil naturally separates from the hydrosol.
