We were so honored to be a part of Girls Day on the Farm, a unique farm-hopping experience hosted by our good friend Amanda Coombs of Coombs Barnyard in Elmer, NJ. This sold-out event was a full day of connection, creativity, and countryside charm—perfectly timed for the height of lavender season.
The morning began at Coombs Barnyard, where participants boarded a bus to tour some of Salem County’s most beloved farm stops, including a visit to our farm.
A Stop at Copper Knoll Farms
When the group arrived at our farm, we welcomed them with a short presentation about our family’s history on the land and what makes our farm so special. We shared a bit about the specialty crops we grow—lavender, elderberries, log-grown mushrooms, and more—and how we transform those into handmade products in small batches right here on the farm. We also talked about our passion for wildlife conservation, from our bluebird trail to our expanding Purple Martin Colony.
Next, we gave a quick lavender cutting demonstration and invited everyone to step into the field for some hands-on harvesting! Each participant received a fresh bouquet and a resource from our website with tips on how to enjoy their lavender—whether they want to enjoy it fresh, dry it for long-lasting beauty, or collect the buds for use in DIY projects. (You can check out that blog post and video here.)
Before boarding the bus, guests had time to shop our farm store, filled with lavender goodies, elderberry teas, mushroom powders, and more — and each received a lavender hydrosol to take home and enjoy as a refreshing reminder of their time in the field.
Other Stops on the Tour
The day didn’t stop at our farm—participants also visited:
-
Sickler’s Circle View Farm learn more about their beef, pig, & chicken operations
-
Auburn Road Winery for a relaxing vineyard lunch
-
Slabtown Petal Pickers, where everyone created their own cut flower bouquet
-
Coombs Barnyard, where the day wrapped up with animal snuggles and farm fun
It was a joy to meet so many new faces and see our field full of laughter and the scent of fresh lavender in the air.
