Mushroom FAQs
How long will my mushrooms stay fresh after purchasing?
Our log grown mushrooms will stay fresh in the refridgerator for up to 7 days after the harvest date.
How do I know they are safe to eat?
For our mushroom production, we carefully select oak logs from our forest under our Forest Management Plan which we then inoculate with organic spawn from a reputable source. So we know we have true shiitake mushrooms for our customers. You can learn more about mushroom identification in the blog post - click here.
I've never purchased mushrooms before. How many mushrooms should I buy?
Everyone has different preferences for the amount of mushrooms they need. However, a 1/4 pound of mushrooms is great for sautéing to flavor a dish. If you would like to make multiple dishes throughout the week or would like to create a main dish, we suggest 1/2 to a 1 pound of fresh mushrooms.
Do I need to cook the mushrooms before eating?
Yes, we recommend cooking the mushrooms before eating by either sautéing, baking, or dehydrating.
