Land Stewards is a relaxed family nature program for children ages 6–12 who are curious about how land is cared for and why stewardship matters.

Each session explores a different topic connected to real farm practices — from creating wildlife habitat and understanding forest growth to learning why and when trees are harvested. Children will observe tools, examine natural materials, ask questions, and participate in simple guided activities that build land literacy and awareness.

June: What Is a Land Steward?
In June, children will learn what it means to be a land steward and how farmers care for the land, crops, woods, and wildlife around them. We’ll talk about simple ways people can observe nature, make thoughtful choices, and help protect the habitats that support birds, insects, plants, and animals.

July: Creating Wildlife Homes
In July, we’ll explore the different ways wildlife creates and uses homes, from natural nests to nesting boxes and Purple Martin housing. Children will learn how we support wildlife on the farm through our bluebird trail and Purple Martin colony, while also hearing seasonal updates on the birds nesting here this year.

August: Tools of a Land Steward
In August, families will get a closer look at the tractors, equipment, and tools used to care for the land throughout the year. Children will see how farm tools support planting, harvesting, forest care, trail maintenance, and wildlife habitat work.

Important: This is a parent-attended program. An adult must remain on-site and is responsible for supervising their child at all times. Land Stewards is designed as a shared learning experience, not a drop-off activity. Please note: We do not enter the woods during this program.

Sessions are intentionally limited in size to keep the experience calm, interactive, and meaningful. We look forward to welcoming your family as we learn what it truly means to care for the land.

Ticket pricing is for one household/family. Families attending with friends or extended family should register separately.

Registration is non-refundable due to limited space. Programs will be held rain or shine unless severe weather requires cancellation
